Spring has sprung. It's time to dig yourself out of winter's cozy darkness. As part of the seasonal shift and effective Self-Care, point yourself in the right direction. Spring is THE time to stretch and open up. Our bodies, our lungs, our brains are all receiving seasonal triggers to "WAKE UP!" Go outside and smell those flowers! No more sleepy, dozy, winter hibernation.
A LONG WINTER IS PRO-INFLAMMATORY. Inflammation is at the center of many chronic, complex diseases e.g. diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s, autoimmunity, and depression. In the podcast below, Dr. Mark Pettus has some science-based and really helpful Self-Care tips to approach inflammation. In this podcast, he teaches us some ways to take the N=1 [that’s uniquely you!] and turn an “inflammatory burden” into an “Anti-inflammatory garden”.
Now is the time to get to know your local farmer, but also make sure to be your own gardener, landscape architect, and farmer, too. Keep learning new methods of self-care and rotate the “soil” of your health. Redesign and reconstruct your life, "till your soil," "plant healthy seeds," and create a "firm foundation," a "healthy footing" on "solid ground."
When we take the time to nourish the foundation of our lives, we are actually creating a life filled with mindful, healthy choices. In this way, we grow stronger roots and possess greater confidence and clarity in the choices we make. Our lives are better because we spend less and less time on things that don't matter. In turn, our energy has greater focus, attention, and meaning. Through focus, we find a place within our lives, and indeed within our selves where we can finally be "at home" - comfortable with our true, authentic selves. This spring - and forever after - surround yourself with those who love you, just the way you are. Create a life filled with a Self-Love that shines through the healthy choices you make as part of your own Self-Care. Go On, Good Girl, Bloom. and take good care of You! xxxGGG
