OH MY! HAKUREI! TURNIP THE VOLUME on NUTRITION

June 24, 2016

This week gets really juicy with Vicky Cooley at the helm of the Nutrifaster. The Lyme Juice Co special of the week will be made from all organic and always gorgeous ingredients from Upper Pond Farm…Fresh-picked strawberries, leafy greens and surprisingly delightful Hakurei Turnips combined with a base of organic green apple, lemon and celery, and ginger if you like.

Turnip Greens are a rich source of minerals like magnesium, copper, calcium, sodium, potassium, iron, manganese, and phosphorus. They also carry more vitamins and minerals than their tuber and are loaded with vitamins A, C and K.

When joined together, vitamins A and C are ready to kick ass when it comes to protecting our cells. Vitamin A keeps skin and mucous membrane cells healthy and that means they are more resistant to fighting off cancers and diseases caused by viruses. Turnip greens are one of the best sources of vitamin A in the plant kingdom.

Vitamin C acts as a natural antihistamine when fighting colds and allergies; aids in collagen production; has anti-oxidant properties that fight against cancer and protects cells from damage and mutation; and best of all, it helps to keep our eyes and hearts healthier so we can see and feel the beauty that is all around us. The fresh green leaves contain 100% of daily-recommended levels of vitamin C and work in many B-complex groups that are essential to metabolism.

Turnip Greens are among the top vegetable sources for vitamin-K which plays a role in bone health, limits neuronal damage in the brain, and is used in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

Go on, Good Girl, Turnip the Volume on Nutrition!
